Our Process
What Is Involved?
We welcome the opportunity to provide a quotation for our services - we only require the location of the worksite and the number of workers to be tested.
We attend your business site anywhere within Tasmania to conduct the hearing tests.

Tests can be conducted at any time or date that is convenient to your organisation, though first thing during the employee's shift is best, before they are exposed to noise.

-
Each worker is questioned about their hearing health and hearing safety practices.
-
A test takes around 20 minutes, including a retest for increased reporting accuracy.
-
Hearing tests are conducted according to AS/NZS standard1269.4:2005, section 7+8.
-
Our Oscilla SM910 audiometers are new and recalibrated annually to ensure total accuracy at all times.

-
A comprehensive report for each employee is prepared, showing:
-
The worker's current hearing health.
-
Current hearing safety practices.
-
Hearing test chart showing the worker's current hearing health.
-
Any previous hearing testing report results, giving you an accurate picture of the worker's hearing health over time.
-
Recommendations for action to help ensure the worker's ongoing safety in the workplace, if necessary.
-

-
A comprehensive management report showing the overall hearing health and safety of your organisation's employees.
-
All hearing test reports are emailed to the designated Manager or Workplace Health & Safety Officer within 21 days of tests being conducted.
-
Signed, printed copies of all tests, plus the management report will be posted within 21 days of tests being conducted.

Prepare Your Workplace
Hear Safe Tasmania is often able to complete the hearing and noise test program over one full day. We are happy to commence testing as soon as your employees are on site.
It is important that all workers are tested as early as possible on their shift to avoid any significant noise exposure prior to their being tested. Workers who are to be tested for the first time require 16 hours of quiet prior to testing, under the requirements of the national standard.
Your workers should bring their currently used hearing protection with them to the test.
All testing is conducted by a qualified screening audiometrist in a quiet room at the work site. The room should have access to a power source, a table and two chairs. A room where outside noise can be kept to a minimum while testing is in progress is ideal.
Testing Day
Testing should be scheduled at approximately 20 minute intervals with your staff coordinator, ensuring that workers attend their testing session promptly to avoid extra time penalties being incurred.
The service includes questioning about current hearing health and practices around noise, inspection of condition of current hearing protection, otoscopy, audiometry and written reports for all participants, plus a
Reports
